ViaMondo spends most of its time asking what other companies do with your data. It would be poor form not to answer the same question ourselves — plainly, and with actual retention periods.
We collect an email address if you subscribe to the newsletter, and whatever you send us if you email us. That's it. We don't sell your data, we don't share it with advertisers, we don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't build profiles of readers. Our analytics can't identify you. Every retention period is stated below rather than left vague.
ViaMondo publishes independent guidance on wearable technology at viamondo.com. For data-protection purposes ViaMondo is the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us about anything on this page at info@viamondo.com.

We do not collect: your location, your device identifiers for advertising, your browsing on other sites, or any special-category data. We have no advertising trackers, no social media pixels, and no third-party cookies.
The short version: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and doesn't fingerprint visitors. We can see that a page was read. We cannot see who read it.
Cloudflare Web Analytics doesn't set cookies and doesn't build a device fingerprint to track people between visits. What it produces is aggregate: page views, roughly where in the world traffic came from, which sites linked to us, and which browsers were used.
We can't tell that the same person came back, can't follow anyone across the web, and can't connect a visit to a newsletter subscriber. That's a deliberate choice — conventional analytics would tell us more, at a cost we're not willing to pass on to readers.
Because it sets no cookies and stores no personal identifiers, there's no cookie banner on this site. That's not an oversight. There's nothing to consent to.
The short version: three suppliers, each doing one job. None of them are advertising companies, and none receive your data to use for their own purposes.
These suppliers process data on our instructions. We don't sell, rent or trade personal data to anyone, and we don't provide it to data brokers. If that ever changed we would say so here before it happened, not after.
Some of these providers operate internationally, so data may be processed outside your country. Where that involves personal data leaving the UK or EEA, transfers rely on the safeguards those providers have in place.
Some pages contain affiliate links, disclosed at the top of the page. If you follow one, the retailer may set their own cookies and will know you arrived from ViaMondo. That relationship is between you and them, under their privacy policy — we receive only aggregate commission reporting, never your identity or what else you bought.
The short version: you can ask what we hold, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it. Email info@viamondo.com and we'll act within 30 days. There's no form to fill in and no hoops.
If you're in the UK or EEA (UK GDPR / GDPR), you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, have inaccurate data corrected, have your data deleted, restrict or object to processing, receive your data in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office.
If you're in California (CCPA / CPRA), you have the right to know what personal information we collect and why, request deletion, request correction, and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any right.
Our lawful bases for processing, where GDPR applies: consent for the newsletter, which you can withdraw by unsubscribing; and legitimate interests for answering correspondence, keeping the site secure, and understanding aggregate readership.
The fastest way to exercise any of these is simply to email us. Unsubscribing from the newsletter needs no email at all — the link is at the bottom of every issue.
ViaMondo writes about devices for children, but the site is intended for adults making decisions on their behalf. It is not directed to children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we'll delete it.
The site is served over HTTPS. Accounts we control are protected with two-factor authentication. We keep the data we hold to a minimum, which is the most reliable security measure available — data that was never collected cannot be breached.
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes affecting newsletter subscribers will be sent to subscribers directly rather than quietly posted.
